Dental Exams and Cleanings
We all know that regular brushing and flossing is important, but not enough to keep our teeth strong and healthy. Regular visits to the dentist for exams and cleaning is a must for anyone who wishes to keep their teeth at their healthiest for a very long time. It is essentially that you visit the dentist for a cleaning and exam at least twice a year, but we here at Dr. Zadeh’s recommend that you try to get a cleaning and exam three to four times a year in order to ensure that your teeth, gums, tongue, and mouth are their healthiest—a lot can happen in six months, and you wouldn’t want your to lose a tooth or let gum disease go uncovered for that long.
While no one usually enjoys visiting the dentist, if you have to go somewhere, Dr. Zadeh’s is the one you would choose. We go the extra mile to make sure that you are relaxed and comfortable, and even provide blankets if you are cold, and movies to watch while we perform your exams and cleaning! We have hundreds of titles to choose from, or you are welcome to bring your own. Our comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, combined with the friendly demeanor of Dr. Zadeh and his staff, is sure to put you at ease, no matter what you are visiting the dentist for.
Dr. Zadeh will provide you with the gentlest and yet most thorough cleaning and exam in Los Angeles. First, he will perform a detailed exam with the help of his assistants. This includes checking the face, lips, tongue, throat, and gums for any signs of oral cancer. After all, dentistry is not just about your teeth—it’s about your overall dental health. He will also examine your gums and the surrounding bones for signs of periodontal disease, such as gingivitis. All surfaces of your teeth will be examined for decay or weakness, and any existing fillings, crowns, bridges, or other dental work will be examined to make sure that it is doing its job.
After the thorough exam comes the cleaning. Usually one of Dr. Zadeh’s highly-trained and knowledgeable hygienists will perform a cleaning, though Dr. Zadeh will be happy to perform your cleaning himself at your request. First, he will remove any tartar from your teeth. This is any substance that has been left on your teeth long enough to harden and build up. Spaces behind the back molars and just along the gum line tend to be missed even during the most careful brushing session, so the tartar can build up, making these areas prone to cavities or other decay. The cleaning process also removes plaque, which is the build-up of bacteria that gets left over in your mouth from food and saliva. Finally, your teeth are polished to remove stains and any remaining plaque. Your teeth will be finished feeling clean and polished!
Dr. Zadeh and his staff will be happy to discuss dental exams and cleanings with you. Please call for a consultation today.
