Dental X-Rays
Though you brush your teeth twice a day and floss regularly, though you use mouthwash to get into those hard-to-reach spaces, and though you visit your dentist twice or more a year for regular cleanings and exams, sometimes your teeth can be effected in ways that the human eye cannot see. For this reason, Dr. Zadeh performs dental x-rays for all of his new patients and for his existing patients at regular intervals. Dental x-rays allow Dr. Zadeh to study the bones beneath your gums, the recovery process from procedures such as gum surgery, dental implants, or wisdom teeth removal, and can even detect early cavities and weaknesses, which may not be visible to the human eye, especially for conditions for which you may not experience systems until the condition has progressed to something much more serious.
Many people shy away from receiving x-rays due to fear of the radiation that goes along with an x-ray. However, in this case, the benefits far outweigh the consequences. The radiation from a dental x-ray is not incredibly strong; never forget that we are exposed to radiation every day from simple home appliances. We will always cover your torso with a lead apron, just to prevent any of your internal organs from receiving any unnecessary radiation. In any case, treating a dental condition without first taking and assessing an x-ray is considered medical negligence, so x-rays are required if you need any sort of dental treatment for a condition you may have. You wouldn’t think twice about letting a doctor x-ray a potentially broken leg, so you shouldn’t think twice about letting your dentist x-ray your teeth for potential cavities, tumors, lesions, or signs of other diseases and conditions.
Finally, though Dr. Zadeh’s office owns the rights to any x-ray it performs, all patients are entitled to a copy of their own x-rays, so you are able to get a second opinion for any procedures that are suggested to you, without the expense and extra radiation exposure of having to receive additional x-rays from another doctor or dentist.
Dr. Zadeh and his staff will be happy to discuss any questions or concerns you have about dental x-rays with you. Please call for a consultation today.
