What Is Instant Orthodontics?

Instant orthodontics actually refers to a specific kind of cosmetic dentistry that uses porcelain veneers and crowns to correct minor issues with gaps, crooked or misaligned teeth, and other imperfections with your teeth that do not otherwise require traditional orthodontics. Severe cases where the teeth are cracked or badly misaligned can also be treated with instant orthodontics; however, they will likely be more extensive and require more time, requiring more than one visit. Instant orthodontics are becoming an increasingly common and popular treatment, and Dr. Parsa T. Zadeh has performed dozens of these procedures.

This option is particularly good for middle-aged and older adults who may have had previous orthodontic work that has shifted over time or never had work to begin with and only suffer from minor to moderate misalignment of their teeth. Many of these adults have careers that do not allow them the luxury or two to three years of straightening treatments, especially if they are in high-profile positions of business, media or law. The ability to have a radically transformed smile in only a few visits, whether on its own or as part of a smile makeover, makes instant orthodontics a great and viable option for many professional adults.

Younger patients are often recommended to go the route of Invisalign® clear aligners or traditional braces, as a large number of their teeth may need to be shaved down to get the results they want. As Dr. Zadeh strives to keep his patients’ natural teeth for as long as possible, he will likely recommend more traditional approaches to teeth straightening. There are, of course, always exceptions and great reasons to get instant orthodontics, but for the average young patient (between 18 to 35), there are better, if slower, options that allow them to get comparable results.

When you visit our office, our dentist and his highly trained and professional team will sit down and discuss your options based on the extent of corrections needed, your desired outcome, and what treatments are available to correct what you are unhappy with. From there, you will have a follow-up appointment to have impressions of your teeth done so that Dr. Zadeh can create your veneers and crowns in-house. By using his own lab, he can reduce your cost and the amount of time you will have to wait for your perfect smile.

When your dental crowns or porcelain veneers are ready, we will give you a call and schedule an appointment to have them placed. Sometimes, this takes more than one session, based on your sensitivity, the amount of work needed and other factors. However, this is worth the effort because in no more than two to three sessions, you could have the smile that would have otherwise taken months or years to achieve! Usually, veneers and crowns are installed under light sedation, but if you are an anxious patient or have a longer treatment, you may opt for total-body or IV sedation. This is a great solution, as you can wake up to your new smile.

While instant gratification is not always possible, this is about as close as it gets in orthodontic and cosmetic dentistry. You will be surprised how quickly your outlook on life will change as you will be constantly showing off your new smile.
