A smile makeover is the name for the wide-ranging group of dental practices and procedures that improve your smile and the function of the masticatory system through cosmetic dental work. This set of procedures is the cornerstone of Dr. Parsa T. Zadeh’s restorative cosmetic dentistry.

Your smile is one of your defining characteristics, and it is important for you to be happy with its appearance. With a smile makeover, you can achieve comfort and self-confidence in your own smile, without the extensive work necessary for a full-mouth reconstruction. Typical smile makeovers combine a few minor procedures such as those listed below, and the entire process often takes only two or three easy appointments to complete.

While both procedure families overlap, smile makeovers generally have a more aesthetic than reconstructive end result in mind. However, the terms are frequently used interchangeably in the common vernacular, but there is a very important distinction. Smile makeovers generally do not include bone or gum grafts or extensive replacement of teeth.

Once grafts and major tooth replacements become a part of your treatment plan, your makeover becomes a full-mouth restoration. When you come in for your initial consultation, Dr. Zadeh will take a whole-mouth approach and looks at every aspect of your smile to determine the extent of treatment needed to give you the smile of your dreams.

During your treatment, Dr. Zadeh can fit you with Lumineers® or porcelain veneers if your teeth are severely worn, misshapen, badly stained or poorly spaced. Dental bonding can be used to cover stains or worn enamel and restore your teeth to their natural luster. If you have oddly shaped teeth that can be corrected without the use of veneers, our dentist may opt to do a minor tooth recontouring to level out your appearance. This is generally a mild sanding to smooth out jagged or rough teeth in a simple and short outpatient visit. Laser tooth whitening can remove years of stains from your teeth, leaving them much whiter.

Invisalign® clear aligners can help move your crooked teeth into their proper positions. This is one of the longer-term steps in the procedure process and will likely be applied after most of your other work is already done. Patients who do not want to wait or only have minor misalignment and crowding can opt for instant orthodontics. Porcelain crowns, inlays or onlays can cover and protect damaged teeth. If a tooth or two are missing or broken beyond repair and you are otherwise healthy, dental implants or small bridges may also be used to fully restore your smile.

You will generally be able to have your smile makeover finished in as few as two or three visits, not counting the consultation or follow-ups.

How Does a Smile Makeover Work?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Zadeh can help determine which procedures you need and design a customized treatment plan made just for you. Dr. Zadeh will take your whole face into account as well and answer any questions about what procedures are right for your case. Oftentimes, patients find out they need far less work than they originally believed. We have had patients come in convinced that they need a whole mouth full of veneers and crowns, when whitening and a veneer or two for irregularly shaped teeth was all they needed. We will tell you exactly what you need, no more, no less. If you want more, we are happy to do so, but we will always give you the most conservative treatment necessary to save you time and money.

If you are concerned about cost, do not be! Our office offers numerous and generous financing options. While most cases are nowhere nearly as expensive as a new car, if you can afford a payment on a new or late-model car, you can easily afford a smile makeover — and most likely will be able to pay it off in far less time! A perfect, beautiful smile is never out of reach, and most patients are eligible for 0% financing for at least their first year of payments!

What Are the Benefits?

Many people come in for smile makeovers because they have not been to the dentist for a while. Or, as is so common in this economy, are only recently able to go beyond the basic upkeep of their teeth. With improved insurance or cash flow, many patients are ready to get the medical and cosmetic procedures they have put off for several years.

A smile makeover can rejuvenate your appearance, improve your confidence and restore functionality that may have been lost. Imagine living your life unhappy with your smile, and compare that to the cost of having it fixed. If you are ashamed or feel there are extensive problems with your smile, a smile makeover can definitely improve your outlook on life. The social and emotional costs of having a smile you are not proud of far outweigh those of getting the smile of your dreams.

No matter who you are, Dr. Zadeh would be honored to perform your smile makeover. Many of his patients have seen life-changing benefits from his work because their refreshed, restored smiles give them back their confidence. Patients of all ages come into our office for smile makeovers and leave with astounding results.

When you get your smile makeover, it will be custom tailored to your teeth and facial features. You will never leave with mismatched teeth or a smile that does not fit your face.
