Dental anxiety is a common problem for both children and adults! This can be made worse by negative previous experiences or if it has been a while since you have seen a dentist, especially if you think or know you need a lot of work. Never fear, because at the office of Parsa T. Zadeh, DDS, we want you to feel comfortable and confident and to know that you are in the right and good hands. Patients who have not been to the dentist in a long time are often either embarrassed or afraid that their teeth will be full of expensive problems. This is not always the case. People who take good care of their teeth (brushing, flossing and rinsing), often only need a few fillings, veneers, or a crown or two, especially if they are older adults.

Afraid of the Dentist?

For all of our patients undergoing serious procedures, or patients who are anxious, Dr. Parsa T. Zadeh, your Beverly Hills dentist, will use a combination of sedatives in the form of pills or injections to make you comfortable during your visits.

Many patients can even drift off into a natural sleep with the use of these medications. Sedation dentistry is available for all surgical procedures and procedures that last longer than two hours. In select individuals with severe phobias, Dr. Zadeh will also use these techniques for shorter and routine procedures.

Anxious patients swear by sedation dentistry because they can relax more easily and the procedure is often over before they know it. This helps them not only get necessary dental work done but also allows them to get over their fears and begin to place their trust and faith in their relationship with Dr. Zadeh.

Sleep dentistry is not general anesthesia, and you will be responsive throughout the procedure, even if you drift off into sleep. This technique has proven to be very effective in alleviating the fear and discomfort associated with dental procedures. The combination of state of the art monitoring equipment and our in-house licensed pharmacist, Fara, makes sedation safe for all patients.

You will not be at any risk for the horror stories you might hear about general anesthesia. You will be responsive, and we can assist you if you are having any form of discomfort, need to go to the restroom or simply need a quick break. Our pledge to you is to treat you like a celebrity each and every time you visit. We emphasize comfort and a relaxed, spa-like atmosphere.

It is important to note that if you undergo full sleep dentistry you will need to make arrangements ahead of time to get home or to your next destination safely. You may be left groggy for several hours after the appointment, and driving may be hazardous. In the event of the unforeseeable, such as a ride cancellation, or if it is determined that sleep sedation is the best route for you, we can help make alternative arrangements for you. We can even call a cab or ride share for you if necessary!

If You Are a Patient With Serious Dental Problems, We Are on Your Team.

Regardless of age, many patients have serious dental problems pop up. While many of the patients with severe dental issues are older, usually 40 and up, the effects of stress, bruxism (teeth grinding), unintentional neglect, and complications from injury, accidents and congenital defects can cause anyone of any age to have serious problems with their teeth.

Having a missing or damaged tooth for any reason is nothing to be embarrassed about. Many people remember their childhood experience of dentists and parents scolding them when they had a cavity or did not brush or floss properly, or they had a dentist in the past who was not careful or gentle and made the experience painful and uncomfortable.

As adolescents and adults, many patients choose to avoid the dentist because of their negative experiences. Dr. Zadeh knows and understand this. We will never pass judgment on your teeth, and we will work with you to help overcome any anxieties you may have. Through the use of basic cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and a compassionate approach, we have made even the most anxious and timid patients relax and be comfortable with the dentist. Your experience is very important to us, and we want you to feel like coming to the dentist is a safe environment where you can relax and have your health taken care of by a trusted friend or colleague.

In addition, we offer wireless headphones and music to help block out any of the unpleasant sounds you might hear during your procedure. While pain is definitely a concern, the sound of dental tools can sometimes be unsettling. With music or a movie, you can block out unpleasant noises and relax. We also offer comfortable chairs, warm blankets, plush cuddle toys and other distractions for your ultimate comfort. For some patients, this is enough. We are committed to your comfort before, during and after your dental procedure. Fear and anxiety should never be a reason to neglect your oral health.

If you have stained, chipped, missing or broken teeth, gum disease, bone loss, and other common dental problems, you will never be lectured about the state of your mouth. Dr. Zadeh and his caring team know that life is complicated and that each patient and their circumstances are unique. We offer solutions for whatever you are looking to have treated regardless of the size and scope of the treatment. Dr. Zadeh has taken even the most hopeless seeming cases and created beautiful, miraculous smiles.

He has earned the trust and respect of thousands of patients through his master craftsmanship and dentistry. He has performed smile makeovers, full-mouth reconstructions, oral surgery and dental implant procedures with results that are worthy of winning beauty contests and silver screen starring roles. No case is too big nor too small, and Dr. Zadeh looks forward to helping you to solve your problems. Do not just think of Dr. Zadeh as your dentist but as a trusted friend whose only goal is your well-being.

Chairside Entertainment and Spa-Like Amenities

We want you to be comfortable when you are with us, so we offer many amenities in our office to help you relax and pass the time:

Movies — We have gone all-out with this one. Every treatment room in our office has a DVD player and a VCR. We have hung flat panel monitors from the ceilings so that you can see your selected title while lying flat on your back while undergoing any of our procedures! The sound quality is great, as we provide you with wireless headphones. We have hundreds of DVD and VHS movies that you can choose from, or you can ever bring your own. Our library is constantly growing, so nearly any movie you can think of, we probably have it or something very similar that you may enjoy. Many of our patients find themselves relaxed by the presence of a movie, and other than adjustments made by us, drift off into the film, and the procedure is complete before they know it!

Music — We also offer a wide variety of music and encourage you to bring in your own as well! Whether you love the classics or like listening to your iPod, iPhone or other musical device, we can accommodate you.

Calf Massager — Not only does a calf massage feel great, but it is a proven way to help relieve stress. Our calf massager is available in the lobby and has helped many patients relax before their appointment.

Warm Blankets — It is true that we keep the temperatures in the treatment room pretty low, as does any medical office. However, this does not mean that you should not be kept warm and comfortable. We have regular and electric blankets in every room for your convenience. For children, we also have plush cuddle toys!

Supportive Assistants — We are both proud and privileged to have assistants who have extensive training and truly care for the well-being of their patients. They will explain the procedures to the patients before Dr. Zadeh even enters the room, and they will stay with the patient to go over the instructions and answer any questions once the procedure is over. Our hygienist is also superlative! And patients always feel refreshed and restored after their cleanings.

We know that visiting the dentist for any reason, let alone a surgical procedure, can be uncomfortable at best, terrifying at worst. That is why we are committed to providing you with every option possible to keep you relaxed and comfortable with dental anxiety management in Beverly Hills, California.
